
1st Saturday is
International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) matches. Registration
opens at 9:00 am and shooting begins at 9:30 to 10 am. The cost is $10.00

IDPA matches consist of 5 or 6 stages which are set up to represent situations where it is necessary to shoot defensively. Competitors must wear a jacket or some garment so that their pistol and extra magazines are not visible while standing with arms relaxed at their side. Each stage can consist of one to a maximum of eighteen rounds fired.
2nd Saturday is Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) or more commonly known as "Cowboy" shooting. Registration opens at 8:00am, Safety meeting at 9:00 am and shooting begins at 9:30 am. The local chapter is the "Piedmont Regulators" and the Governor and main contact for this shooting activity is Ed Caudell - Phone: (864-313-3098) (email: montanabrn@yahoo.com). The webpage for this group is piedmontregulators.com The second weekend in June each year is the big annual national match for SASS shooters at Skip-J Range.
Cowboy shooting involves firing at metal targets using two revolvers, a rifle and a shotgun on each stage. All guns and clothing must be circa 1899 or before. Go to sassnet.com for more information on cowboy shooting or click on this link on this website.
3rd Saturday is Tactical Carbine Rifle Match. Registration opens at 9 am and shooting begins about 9:30 am. The cost is $12 for 5 stages. The match is open to the public. This match is ideal for .223 rifles but higher calibers are OK.

3rd Sunday
is Ruger Rimfire Match. Registration opens at 1:00 pm and shooting begins
at 1:30 pm. The cost is $10.00 for five stages. This match is open to
the public. We accommodate late arrival shooters up to 2:00 pm.
Ruger Rimfire matches consist of shooting at various pieces of steel on each of five stages. The competitor shoots each piece of steel one time against the clock. After 5 strings the worst time is tossed and the total time for the remaining four are added up and becomes the score for that stage. Each stage has a different arrangement of the various pieces of steel. Basically this is a speed shooting activity. All firearms are to safely use .22 Long Rifle ammunition and can be of any gun manufacturer. (Not limited to Ruger handguns or rifles)

4th Saturday is Defensive Shotgun Match. Registration opens at 9 am and shooting begins at 9:30 to 10 am. This match consists of 5 stages engaging clay pigeons or other targets from defensive positions (behind cover). All competitors start with maximum 5 rounds loaded with 10 or more targets on each stage. Any shotgun is allowed, classes are hand-reload and speed-reload, all shells must be #6 to #9 shot, no buck or slugs.
